Fresh and Hot

In the home, we must make it a point that the food we serve to our family and friends is freshly cooked and still hot. This way, people would better appreciate the freshness and enjoy the food served to them. It is important to make sure that the food being served is at its best. No one would want to help themselves with food which is just stale cold and tough.

Especially during parties, hosts would need to serve the food on the table straight from the oven or stove. Since the table would not be able to handle the heat from these serving platters and pots, it is important to make use of a round trivet to protect the table and table mantle from the hot temperature of the dishes. This way, guests can have their food warm and hosts would be able to throw a wonderful party for their invitees.

A Happy Mother

The first time I witnessed my daughter put a spoonful of food in her mouth all by herself gave me such a wonderful experience. It warmed me all over while having goosebumps. It is such a wonder to see a small achievement like that and somehow, it confirmed that I was doing something right.

It took awhile for her to be able to feed herself. My mother advised me ahead of time to buy my daughter her own dinnerware. So, I bought her those cute baby spoon and fork that fit her mouth perfectly. I also bought some adorably designed kids dishes that she can use even when she’s older. Of course, like any other baby, she would get the spoon or fork while I was feeding her and try to do it herself but by the time it reaches her mouth, the food would be all over clothes instead. It was such a mess but I let her do it again and again alternating in feeding her and letting her try. Eventually, she did! Now, I need to teach her how to drink from a glass.

Picky About Cookware

Have you ever noticed how certain stainless steel cookware can leave traces of a metallic taste in your mouth? How are you supposed to enjoy your homemade, freshly prepared meal if it’s going to be tainted with the taste of metal? This is exactly why I’ve resorted to using ceramic dishes and cookware to prepare my food.

However, my favorite way to eat salad is out of these antique wood bowls that I found at a local flea market. They are crafted by hand from chestnut and have intricate carvings of tiny orchids and palm trees. When I’m eating from them I like to pretend that I’m on a tropical island.

Comfort Food

One of the best comfort foods, especially during sickness, is soup. Throughout the years, mothers have been offering their children with tasty and nutritious soups to help a child feel better. It’s not surprising that for many people, soup brings back a lot of happy childhood memories.

After preparing soup to your family, pour it in soup mugs which are a convenient way to serve and eat soup from. Soup mugs are better than soup bowls because mugs come with one or two handles that allow you to drink soup without needing a spoon. Soup mugs are usually larger than coffee mugs to accommodate bigger servings.

Pottery Making is Messy but Fun

Pottery making is intriguing. It involves several steps unique only to the making of pottery. What is fascinating to me is how the clay is worked on the pottery wheel. A pottery wheel is a spinning round table with a splash pan around it to catch water. They are either electric or manual and come in single speed or adjustable speeds.

These wheels are used in making different pottery pieces such as bowls, urns, pots and pottery plates. The process starts by throwing clay into the center of the wheel. Deft fingers start working at low speed to form the clay into desired shapes. It looks like a fun thing to do. It can get messy, but that is where the fun begins.
