Pyrex ovenware
We grew up with Pyrex. It is a brand name for glassware introduced in the early 1900s. Then, it was made from thermal shock resistant borosilicate glass. This is a type of glass known for having very low coefficients of thermal expansion making them resistant to thermal shock compared to other common glass. This kind of glass is still being used even if tempered soda lime glass is already also being used.
We were used to seeing the thick transparent Pyrex ovenware that came in sets of three lying around in our mother’s kitchens. They came into action when it was time to pour the batter for baking or when a casserole dish was put together. Pyrex may be known for their glass bake ware but they also carry ceramic, microwavable, stainless and non-stick cookware. They are all of superior durability, made with the needs of consumers in mind.
