I grew up with a large extended family so entertaining family on weekends is a way of life. Most of our entertainment involves food so we also come from a family of great cooks. More often than not, we use stainless steel flatware in our food parties. If it’s a really big get together, we usually use plastic plates and utensils and limit the food to fried chicken and burgers. For small parties, I bring out the China and silverware.
It is a tradition of our Asian heritage to give silverware to newly married couples as wedding gifts. For my wedding, my wife and I receive 2 sets of silverware. We don’t usually use our silverware unless it’s a special occasion or we’re entertaining VIPs. I, myself, haven’t used our silverware yet. That is why we bought stainless steel flatware for our everyday eating. Good stainless steel flatware is important so as you won’t bend it while eating. It will also make eating more enjoyable. The feel of good heavy flatware in your hands feels like you’re eating in an expensive restaurant.
