Baking, especially when you are new at it, takes a lot of patience. One has to follow the recipe to the letter and make sure that the procedure was carefully followed.
Most cake or pastry recipes will require the use of handmixers to blend the flour mixture well. For a novice baker or for one who enjoys baking as a hobby, this is recommended. For those into commercial baking though, the heavy duty stand-alone mixers might be the better choice.
