Reasons to Use Aluminum Pans

When it comes to baking, I always use aluminum cake pans. First off, aluminum cake pans tend to have a non-stick coating. This makes sliding a cake or pie out of the pan an easy task. Clean up is also a breeze!

Second, aluminum pans are durable. This may seem contrary to popular belief as aluminum is one of the lightest metals, but they have stood the test of time for me. The fact that aluminum pans don’t rust or corrode is also beneficial. Finally, I like the fact that aluminum pans come in many different shapes so I can be creative with my baking.

The Most Useful Thing in the Kitchen

These are the most useful things in the kitchen. I use one almost every day. Skillets are great for sautéing vegetables and making an omelette. Non-stick skillets are best for heating leftover food when you are not comfortable about using the microwave. Please, I’d rather not hear about non-stick cooking pans being just as bad for our health. These days, we can use all the convenience that we can get.

What is your favourite skillet? Mine is a heavy-gauge bottomed skillet. It ensures consistent uniform heat. A 10″ pan is most ideal for me. It can accommodate the amount of food that we need and is not too heavy to handle. The handle should be heat resistant as I sometimes need to finish cooking my dish in the oven. One with a glass lid is bonus but that is not absolutely necessary.

Good cookware sets is vital to good cooking. I use to have a bad pan that made everything stick. Good cookware is expensive. That’s why it’s best to get a set. One set that I have includes a pan, pot for pasta cooking and a sauce pan. Sometimes, we cousins get together to buy a big cookware set and just divide it among ourselves.

Cookware is made of different kinds of materials. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Cast-iron is considered very durable and cooks evenly, but it is quite heavy and not very practical for day to day cooking. Aluminum is the best heat conductor. It is also light and inexpensive. A set back with aluminum is that it can react with some kinds of food.

Stainless steel is very popular because it is light and easy to clean. However, it can heat up easily and burn food if the cook is not careful. Ceramic, glass and silicone are also popularly used in cooking. Anodized cookware has come to fore as a practical everyday cookware. The process of anodizing is an electronic process that thickens the surface of the cookware to make it hard and non-reactive. This process is usually applied to aluminum cookware.
