When you’re in the kitchen, it is always best to have the right kind of cookware. Getting the right cookware depends on what you need, your style of cooking, and your budget. Buying a complete cookware set can be beneficial as it is cheaper in the long run, but you might not be able to use some of the pieces. Sometimes it is better to buy per piece, and then expand your cookware when the time is right.

Usually, you can start off with sauté pans, sauce pans and stainless steel stock pots. A 12-inch sauté pan can be perfect for cooking steaks, chicken, fish and vegetables. A 3-quart sauce pan is good for making sauces, steaming vegetables and cooking small amounts of pasta. The stainless steel stock pot, which is usually heavy-bottomed, is great for soups, stews, large amounts of pasta, or larger pieces of food like turkeys and lobsters.
